Heather Reavey - Principal, Design Strategy Group - boston

Education:
B.ID, Syracuse University

Personal Trajectory:
I graduated from a five year industrial design program in May '99. While at Syracuse, I was also a varsity athlete on the rowing team, sold coffee and muffins almost every morning, and threw some of the best theme parties on campus. In June 1999, I joined the Design Strategy Group at Continuum.

Virtues:
As an envisioner, I gather data hands-on and build a visual story that is fun to read and full of information that people can easily understand and relate to. In real life, I write an entertaining letter, bake a good blueberry pie, and can play ball with anyone.

Vices:
I have a rocky relationship with the concept of time.

Favorite Project:
I worked with a neurosurgeon and a physical therapist to develop my thesis project...the design of a system for the prevention of athletic injuries. It includes sensor-loaded apparel that provides the athlete with tangible feedback as they are performing, as well as gathering and processing data.

Special Interest:
I collect brightly colored sneakers, postcards, pajamas, stamps, tea packaging, and children's books.
